Robert Johnson is joining our Core staff to lead our Speed, Agility, and Strength Training Programs. Robert has extensive training in a wide range of areas; including auto racing, motto cross racing, football, boxing, tennis, and the US Army. He is currently head strength conditioning trainer at Roush Fenway Racing where his responsibilities include training the drivers and pit crews. He has been a part of 2 Cup
Championships, 1 Busch Championship, and 1 pit-crew Championship. He has been successful at utilizing strength
and quickness for training athletes to prepare and excel in competition. He is
a retired (23 years) Army Master Fitness trainer and Drill Instructor that trained special army units such as Rangers,
Special Forces, and the 82nd Airborne. While in the US Army, Robert was the Army
boxing welter-weight champion, and played
football in the German American Football League. Robert
holds multiple certifications including; Specialist in Sports Conditioning
(ISSA), Functional Training (AFPA), Sports Yoga, Mind, and Body (ACE) and First
Aid. In addition, he is a 1st
Degree Black Belt in Korean Tae Kwon Do.
Robert is directing our programs and is available for team or individual workouts.
Marc Sweet
Coach Sweet began his career at Syracuse University as a volunteer graduate assistant track and field coach. There, he earned a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science in 1998 with a strong concentration in Sports Physiology and Kinesiolgy, and a minor in Coaching Theory. While at Syracuse, Sweet participated in jumps and sprints. He was an IC4A qualifier in both the indoor and outdoor long jump and triple jump. He served as team captain during the '96 & '97 seasons.
Sweet also spent one year at Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY where he served as team captain and qualified for the NJCAA Junior College Nationals in the decathlon.
In addition to his experience at Syracuse, Sweet has also coached at Bucknell University, PA and Davidson College, NC. Sweet has also worked with the Onondaga County Special Olympics Track & Field Program in Syracuse, NY.
He currently works with Adidas sponsored Jordon Vaden. Vaden is a Silver medalist in the 200m at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Nationals with a world ranking time of 19.98 seconds. He also was the Bronze medalist in the 100m with a seasons personal record of 10.20 seconds. Jordon also is an eight time NCAA DII All-American in the sprint and relays while at Livingstone College Salisbury, NC. He also was a 2004 Olympic trials qualifier in the 200m and 400m.
Sweet also has experience as a speed and quickness, strength and conditioning coach for the semi-pro football team, the Syracuse Storm. He currently works with several other professional athletes in the NFL, NHL and MLB as well as many Master Track & Field and High School athletes. Coach Sweet uses his knowledge and experience to develop strength and conditioning, speed and quickness programs for all athletes in all sports.
